McKinley Technology High School

McKinley Technology Education Campus now encompasses grades 6-12.  Our neighborhood middle school program offers a brand new state of the art facility, formerly known as the “A Wing,” in which students continue the STEM foci enjoyed by our high school students.  The middle school Navi-Gators are poised to make their academic mark on our McKinley campus, and we are on our way to becoming the best middle school program in DCPS. Our middle school curriculum offers classes not currently offered at other middle school programs!  Associate Principal Scott and Assistant Principal Welch-Davis will supervise the middle school program this year, serving as your first point of contact for middle school related questions.  Their emails are lysa.scott@dc.gov and Modestine.welch@dc.gov.

The high school program, grades 9-12, will continue to be a highly competitive application high school.  McKinley Tech is a National Blue Ribbon School that is known for its STEM focus and high achieving students.  This year, we have been chosen to implement TWO National Academy Foundation (NAF) Academies  – one in Engineering and one in Information Technology.  We are entering our planning year, and full implementation will occur in fall of 2014.  Engineering and Information Technology teachers will have access to curriculum, resources and professional development from NAF, and our academies’ quality will be evaluated on a national level, using nationally standardized rubrics that evaluate NAF academies throughout the USA. NAF Academy students typically receive positive reviews from college recruiters who know the curriculum and rigor associated with NAF Academies.
